ITINERARY
Day
1 - Alice Springs - Kata Tjuta - Uluru
Travel
to the Outback Camel Farm for an optional camel ride (at
own expense). Journey on to Uluru (Ayers Rock) – Explore
the ’Valley of the Winds’ in the majestic Kata Tjuta (Olgas)
– Enjoy a champagne sunset at Uluru – Camp at our permanent
campsite in tents or view the outback sky while sleeping
in authentic Aussie bedrolls (swags). (LD)
Day
2 - Uluru to Kings Canyon
Up before
sunrise for a base walk at Uluru or choose to climb – Visit
the Aboriginal Cultural Centre – After lunch, head to Kings
Canyon for our overnight camp. (BLD)
Day
3 - Kings Canyon to Alice Springs
Climb
and explore Kings Canyon, viewing the impressive formations
of the ’Amphitheatre’, ’The Lost City’ and the spectacular
North and South Walls – Swim in the picturesque ’Garden
of Eden’ (summer only) – After lunch, return to Alice Springs
enjoying the rugged desert scenery. Dormitory included
or motel room available at own expense. (BL)

4 - Alice Springs
A day
at leisure to relax and enjoy the Red Centre town of Alice
Springs. Overnight in dormitory included or motel room available
at own expense. (No meals)
Day
5 - Alice Springs to Boulia
Our
road trip from the heart of the Australian desert to the
Tropics begins early today. A big day is ahead, travelling
unsealed roads through one of the most remote areas in Australia.
Lunch today is at Jervois Station. Skirt the top of the
Simpson Desert before stopping at Tobermorey Station. If
you’ve never had a feeling of remoteness before, you will
today! Tonight stay at Wirrelyerna Station - a fantastic
experience! (BLD)
Day
6 – Boulia to Hughenden
We
re-join the sealed Highway passing through Boulia. Our first
stop this morning is a little pub in the middle of nowhere,
Middleton Pub – population 5. Continue on to Carisbrook
Station where we enjoy a BBQ lunch & time is allowed to
explore. Winton is the next stop, rich in Australian history.
A complete change of landscape this afternoon before arriving
at Hughenden. Enjoy a hot buffet dinner & air-conditioned
multi-share accommodation. (BLD)
Day
7 – Hughenden to Cairns
A
short drive this morning to Porcupine Gorge lookout, before
a great opportunity to spot our unique native wildlife,
especially this time of day. After a brief stop at Australia’s
smallest bar, we re-join the sealed road travelling through
the lush Atherton Tablelands. Wooroonooren National Park
is our next stop. Take a breathtaking rainforest walk (relaxed
2hrs) & swim at the Nandroya Falls before continuing to
Cairns. (BL)
